La historia de Salento es la historia de los caminos. Caminos que dieron forma  a una nación,  caminos por donde pasaron hombres  y bienes por siglos.   Es la historia de la conquista  de la selva  a manos  de  hombres con  machete,  la  historia  del  arriero  y  sus recuas,  la historia  de  las casonas antioqueñas.   Toda la magia de la historia de  un pueblo  joven, que sin embargo es padre de los otros, la podemos entender caminando las mismas calles, recorriendo la plaza,  recorriendo un pueblo  detenido en el tiempo.

The history  of Salento  is the history  of roads.  Roads that  formed a  nation, roads traveled by  both men and  goods for centuries.   It is the history of the colonization  of the  forest at the  hands of men armed  with  machetes,  the history of the muleteer and his barren, the history of the Antioquia “Casonas.”
All the  magic of  this young  town can be  understood by  walking around its streets,  along the plaza and  all throughout this quaint village that feels as if time has stood still.
